Biographical / Historical

The IUPUI Department of Speech and Theatre was created in 1969 and later became a unit in the School of Liberal Arts. The name of the department later changed to Communications and Theatre, and still later to its present name of Department of Communication Studies. The University Theatre program was a significant part of the department until fiscal constraints prompted its elimination in 1990-1991.
