Overview The Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) was founded in 1971 by David Horton Smith and Bill Ready as the Association for Voluntary Action Scholars (AVAS). Scope and Contents This collection contains publications of a variety of nonprofit and governmental organizations, arranged in alphabetical order by publishing entity. The Aspen Institute and the Urban Institute are best represented, but the collection also contains publications from the Council on Foundations, the Center for Effective Philanthropy, and Public/Private Ventures.
